The 5th Grade Spring Concert will take place Tuesday, May 7@ 5:30pm at Bay Port in the PAC (Auditorium). The concert will be short and should be done by 5:50. Students need to arrive between 5:15 and 5:20. Please do not arrive early. The doors to the auditorium will not open for guests to find their seats until 5:10. Please plan accordingly.
When you arrive students should report back stage. There will be volunteers in the hallways along helping to direct your child to the correct location. Please keep your students jacket. There will not be a place backstage for your child to store their winter gear.
After the concert the front 2 rows will be dismissed into the atrium in front of the PAC. The back 3 rows will be dismissed into the PAC. Please be mindful that the 6th Grade Concert takes place after the 5th Grade Concert. I respectfully ask that once you have been reunited with your child that you exit the PAC so that I can reset everything for the next concert.
What to Wear...Students should wear their black Choir Shirt to the concert. You should not need to go out and buy anything new to go along with the shirt. All I ask is that athletic clothing be avoided (no sweatpants, joggers, athletic shorts, athletic leggings, etc.). I also ask that students avoid 'high heels' for safety purposes on the risers. Tennis are a great shoe choice as the students will be standing for 30-35 minutes. Blue jeans, nice leggings, dress pants, cargo pants, khaki pants, skirts, dress shorts, jean shorts, cargo shorts, khaki shorts are all acceptable. It is warm on stage (think 75 and sunny). If your child overheats easily and they want to wear a skirt or nice shorts that is perfectly acceptable!
On a side note, please do not panic if you have a t-shirt emergency the night of the concert. I will have plenty of extra shirts with me that your child can borrow should the need arrive. You do not need to call or email ahead to reserve one of the emergency shirts. I will have more than enough on hand. Your child simply needs to come find me when they arrive and I will help them get what they need.
Concert Absences... Students are encouraged to attend the concert. This concert is a part of their 2nd Quarter grade, but even more importantly the concert is an opportunity for your choir student to 'show off' everything they have worked so hard on since the beginning of the year. I understand that sometimes life happens and conflicts occur. If your child is unable to attend the concert I ask that you please complete the Concert Absence Form. There is no need for follow up with me once the form has been completed. Please note, completion of the choir absence form does not excuse them from the concert, it is merely a record for me for planning purposes. When a student misses a concert it is the same as missing a math test and it will need to be 'made-up' regardless of the reason for missing the concert. Students who miss the concert will be given class time to complete their make-up work after the concert. Click here to complete the Concert Absence Form.
Volunteers Needed...I am looking for several volunteers to assist with the upcoming concert. I need help with the dress rehearsals as well as backstage before the concert. You do need to be a district approved chaperone in order to volunteer for these roles. As a thank you for your time and willingness to help all volunteers will receive reserved seating for themselves and their entire family.
I am looking for 6 volunteers to help backstage prior to the concert from 5:00-5:25.
